Monday Post - Week 12

Greetings from The Stuffed Animal Review, a publication dedicated to the analysis of stuffed creature design and their larger worlds.  You have stumbled upon what The Review refers to as its Sunday through Friday posts: random images of stuffed animals doing silly things.  Feel free to dig deeper into the purpose of this blog by clicking on the “Philosophy” page. Join us on Saturday for more substantive musings.

Monday Magic
This week's Sunday through Friday posts extend Saturday's thoughts on stuffed creature disturbing details.

A stuffed creature pen.  Can dedicated Review readers anticipate the objection?  Pens are hard and utilitarian.  Stuffed creatures are soft and playful.  The two clash, both philosophically and physically.

Dispensing ink with a stuffed creature would convert the staid act of writing into a playful event, but should the softness and personality of an independent stuffed creature be sacrificed for this transformation?  Better to write with a stuffed creature close by.

Design issues are also a problem with this idea.  Where and how to meld pen and creature?  Take the pink flamingo pen pictured below.  A flamingo is a good choice for a pen.  The designer can play on the bird's long spindly legs to blur the line between implement and animal.  But look closely: the flamingo's legs are thin, dangling cords with felt paddles as feet.  The pen itself is awkwardly affixed to the creature's behind.  Ouch.
